Kelly Ronahan: Where Is She Now? After Treatment, Her Life - Business Magazine (2024)

Since the ballet teacher made news in 2014, people on the internet have been keeping an eye on how she is getting worse. Her story was one of hope, persistence, and the power of kindness at the time. Ronahan needed blood transfusions to treat a disease that doctors didn’t understand: every seven days, her haemoglobin dropped so sharply that doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

Ronahan’s blood problem suddenly went away, and was replaced by a strange leg problem that made the meat on her skin rot. Before you look for pictures of Ronahan’s legs, please be careful. Some people can’t handle seeing those pictures.

kelly ronahan stopped using social media after having both of her legs cut off in May 2021.

kelly ronahan legs started out with scabs and blisters that doctors weren’t sure what was wrong but thought would go away on their own. Ronahan, on the other hand, picked at the boils, making them worse. Kelly kept messing with her wounds even though the doctors told her not to, which caused nerve and circulation system damage worries.

Early in 2019, doctors put grafts on Kelly’s legs to try to get tissue to grow around her wounds. Ronahan got in the way of her healing, which made her situation worse than it was before the surgery.

In May 2021, Kelly’s leg muscles had rotted so badly that she had to have both of her knees cut off for good. Ronahan said in one of her last social media posts that she had begun rehab and had a “horrific” surgery story.

“Good f*ck it hurts,” Ronahan wrote, “but I don’t want to spend another summer in bed. I’m going to work hard.” Not going to lie, I cry about twenty times a day because I’m so sad and shocked by this. It’s REALLY HARD.”

Before her surgery, kelly ronahan used to make updates about her health, but afterward, she stopped. Ronahan had threatened to stop using social media by writing in a long post in March 2021 that she was thinking about getting better without interacting with her online fans.

Ronahan told her that a little hate would push her over the edge because of how hard things were for her. Kelly thought about whether it was still worth it to be open. This is what she wrote:

“To be honest and open, I don’t know if it’s worth it anymore…” I’m going to give it some more thought and then make a choice: should I give up social media and be lonely but hate-free, or should I make friends, which will bring hate with it?”

Ronahan wrote in an early April 2021 post that her mental health was “ugly.” “Inside, I’m not happy; my mind tells me there is no hope,” she wrote. There is still happiness, love, and hope in my life, but evil is taking over. I think the future will be rough, which scares me.

Fans thought Kelly might have lied about her social media success conditions.

Not many people thought Kelly was lying about the blood disorder that made her famous. Even the doctors who gave her blood transfusions every week were hopeful that they could figure out why Kelly’s haemoglobin was dropping.

According to Ronahan, she gets three bags of blood every two weeks. This means that three people give blood every two weeks to save her. “I would have organ failure without the transfusions, and I would be dead in a month or six weeks.”

Kelly was released from the hospital in July 2016 after doctors found out she was pretending to have seizures. Fans didn’t turn against her, though; in her honour, they held several blood drives.

In 2017, Kelly’s health got worse. Her blood transfusion port got infected, and she talked about how she struggles with eating problems and hurting herself. Kelly’s blood was drawn in April 2017 for a number of tests, and her haemoglobin count was found to be normal.

People thought Kelly was pretending to be sick to get attention because of the results and the questionable claim that she hurt herself. The claim got stronger after Ronahan’s blood condition disappeared for no clear reason.

Ronahan said that her blood problems were caused by uterine tumours and MS. In her Instagram bio, she also talks about having anaemia and Behcet’s disease, a rare disease that makes blood vessels swell.

Kelly’s leg problems started after she got better from her blood condition. She thought it was because she had an unconfirmed hysterectomy that got rid of the troublesome uterine fibroids.

Ronahan wouldn’t let her wounds heal, and it was said that she contaminated them with faeces, which added to the idea that she made up her diseases.
