Flea & Street Markets

Eastern Market, established in 1873, is a lively marketplace situated in the heart of Capitol Hill. It offers a diverse range of products including fresh produce, handmade crafts, and prepared foods. The market is divided into two sections: the South Hall Market showcases an array of farm-fresh products and deli delights while the North Hall Events Space hosts various community events throughout the year.

Many miss this place while exploring the capital, but it's a nice little market with old town feel. You can walk along the stores and purchase unique items. There are several cafes too, to have breakfast or lunch

Eastern market is always a treat for locals and those visiting. You can find a present for someone or yourself such as vendor goods, e.g. jewelry, sweets, clothing, pottery, art, etc… then there’s the diner open for breakfast and lunch! We stuck to breakfast and were super excited about the pancakes. They did not disappoint! Been a local awhile and this was my first visit and hope to be back soon! Thanks chef!

So I got some amazing things from the market today .... Heirloom tomatoes, some funky string beans and great corn on the cob. Also handmade soap that some people said was a must try, I'll post the veggies later guys because I packed them away for cooking tomorrow but here are some other photos I took. Enjoy

Went on a weekday but hear the weekend has much more. Lovely veggies, cheeses, seafood, and meats. If you cannot find what you are looking for here you probably won't find it. Prices are comparable. I did see some meats were frozen which is why they recieved 4 stars. Fresh is always best for me. Looking forward to seeing the weekend set up.

What a great place to spend your afternoon, strolling through the street market and grab some food at the indoor hall or walk to William H Rumsey Aquatic to find more food vendors

We went to get a 3-4lb leg of lamb for Easter dinner. We asked the vendor butterfly it so we could easily grill it. He did a great job of getting it ready. I have included a video of him butterflying it.

Clean market..I was expecting outdoor stalls but it was winter during my visit. Not so many stalls open but it still worth to visit if you're near the area

Eastern Market is a go to place on Saturday and Sunday on Capitol Hill. Great food, fun products, and great coffee (and a kid entrepreneur!) Just a few photos from the weekend.

Great farmers market that distributes fresh, locally sourced produce. A variety of other vendors set up tents going from jewelry, to art, to clothing, to home items and gifts. The food selections contain coffees, lemonades, juices, packaged goods, etc. There's a lot to browse & buy.Things you should know:I. PARKINGYou'll have to parallel along the neighborhood streets to shop here.II. SERVICEA store that really stood out to us as unique was Icon Line Design. They had vintage Coco Chanel buttons revived into a unique set of earrings. One of a kind. Still authentic Chanel.III. QUALITYEach stand is different but produce-wise all is freshIV. CAPACITYBusy on the weekends. The crowd dies down after 1pm in the summers due to the heat

Eastern Market is probably the best thing to do on a Sunday morning in DC. HIGHLY recommend that fragrance enthusiasts pay Olivia Cook a visit. She sells soaps with the most unique and lasting scents for just $5. So warm, and such a pleasure to speak to as well! Really completes the farmers market experience. Capitan Colin Records is another favorite. Incredible collection for classical, country, and 60s hits. 4 for $10, and incredible Beatles originals at a higher price range.

Eastern Market is a great way to spend your day strolling the stalls and picking up some fresh baked breads and desserts, farm fresh fruits and vegetable, jewelry, clothing, and artwork. Then head inside for the meat markets and hot food vendors. I stopped and got some Korean food. Be sure to make Eastern Market a place you visit.

Love a good farmers/small business market. Eastern market over the weekend has great vendors to check out, and great food options inside the building. I’m sure overtime I’ll upload more images/videos overtime

We had a lovely venue done up for our Company Holiday Christmas Party and it was amazing! The service and the attention to detail was immaculate. However the bathrooms could use some work as they were clean but the faucet and floor could have been cleaner.

I forgot how much I loved coming here with my girlfriend for crab cakes and shopping. It's been 25 years. Since then, we got married, had kids and divorced. Today we all came back here together :-)

A great walk on a weekend morning, led us to the famed Eastern market. The aroma from a bouquet of fresh flowers 🌸 mixed in with fresh 🥩 is one’s choice. The outside vendors to crowd watchers like ourselves…there was something for everyone. For street photographers like myself, this was a gem experience

Unique building built in the 19th century. Filled with produce, meat, and fresh hot meals. Lovely place to visit on the weekends.

I came upon this farmers market by accident and I’m highly impressed. I had an enjoyable Saturday browsing the stalls and even found the most gorgeous jewelry along the way. There were plenty of crafts, food stuffs, and produce to peruse, so I definitely recommend it to all!

What a lovely place to hang out on a Saturday or Sunday!! Lots of artists selling their own creations, large variety of tasty and home made street food. If you want to relax for a few hours especially on sunny days it really is the perfect place. You also have the indoor market where you will have a good choice of food and a nice place for lunch. The fall season offers an amazing mix of beautiful colors making it even more agreeable to walk in the area.
