Your sales and use tax account ID number is the 9-digit number issued to you by the Department of Revenue at the time of registration. You can find your sales and use tax account ID number on your registration certificate or coupon booklet.

ITIN. How do I get my NC State ID online?
To obtain a REAL ID, you must go in-person to a local NCDMV office. While you cannot apply for a first-time REAL ID online, you can renew or order a duplicate for a REAL ID online using myNCDMV, and the Real ID endorsem*nt will persist to the new credential.
How do I register for a NC Withholding Tax Identification Number? You must submit a completed business registration application, Form NC-BR, Business Registration Application for Income Tax Withholding, Sales and Use Tax, and Other Taxes and Service Charge, to obtain a withholding tax identification number.
Obtain Necessary Licenses & Permits
North Carolina has no single generic business license that will ensure compliance with all requirements. Some businesses may be subject to several state requirements while others may not be subject to any.
The IRS cannot cancel your EIN. Once an EIN has been assigned to a business entity, it becomes the permanent Federal taxpayer identification number for that entity. Regardless of whether the EIN is ever used to file Federal tax returns, the EIN is never reused or reassigned to another business entity.
Business Corporations, Nonprofit Corporations, Limited Liability Companies (LLC), Limited Partnerships (LP), Limited Liability Partnerships(LLP or RLLP), and Limited Liability Limited Partnerships (LLLP) are required to register with the NC Secretary of State's Office prior to conducting business in North Carolina.
